From comfort to crazy food; a culinary walk through the weird and wonderful of my mom's old cookbooks.
Robin Hood Flour Prize Winning Recipes 1947
My copy of this book is old and tattered. It no longer has the cover and a bunch of pages are missing.
From what I can find on the internet, I believe I have the 1947 version. For example, someone is selling a 1953 version, but the recipes for dumplings and coffee cake doesn't match the page numbers of the recipes in my book, so that rules out that version.
I did see a version with the exact same pictures and a few recipes on the same pages as my version, which leads me to believe it's this book.
The book is as old as the other cookbooks I have, but the way it's presented makes it look and feel so much newer than the others. I think the Robin Hood publisher wanted these Prize Winning Recipes to be in a book worthy of them.

Are you keeping this blog alive ? I have a question about a recipe in your old 5 roses cookbook and/or the Robin Hood cookbook. In France, am looking for the fruit crumble recipe which does not use oats. In exchange I can give you the best ever moist banana bread recipe which doesn't darken and isn't too sweet. Will watch for a reply. Happy Christmas to you.
